Unemployment touches 13%
Despite generally positive economic signals, unemployment continues to rise, reaching 13% of the labour force in February, or 2.1m people. Unemployment has been rising almost continuously since the end of 2008. Apart from the economic slowdown, the severe winter has also been a significant factor as this has limited take up in the construction industry.
