Consortium selected to build national stadium
A German-Austrian-Polish consortium led by Alpine Bau has won the tender to build the national football stadium in Warsaw for the Euro 2012 championships. The project is valued at PLN 1.252bn and is scheduled to be completed by 2011. The same consortium has also won contracts to modernise the stadiums in Poznan and Gdansk. Alpine Bau has experience in the construction of sports stadiums having completed amongst others the Allianz stadium in Munich. Designed by JSK Architects, the new Warsaw stadium will seat 55,000 spectators.
